Solution overview

Automation is now widespread in manufacturing plants and is finding ever more uses in everyday life. Given the scale of large factories, management and safety-alert systems integrated with production machinery are always a top priority. That demands infrastructure connectivity that is genuinely stable, durable and quick to respond.

A point-to-point / multipoint wireless infrastructure brings flexibility to installation and can be changed quickly as the factory shifts and grows, without the constraints of transport cabling — and it removes risks such as a cable being severed while plant machinery is running.

Solution highlights

01

Rapid deployment with the longest-range point-to-point / multipoint data transport, covering 5 – 20 km

A wireless transport system can serve automation, machine control and production systems. WiCell equipment offers very high transmit power of 1000 to 2000 mW — among the highest in the world. Paired with high-gain antennas such as grid or dish types, it gives point-to-point wireless links between two sites up to 20 km apart. Paired with high-gain, wide-beam antennas such as sector, panel or horn types, point-to-multipoint coverage reaches a 5 km radius.

03

Handles large numbers of concurrent users

A wireless transport system can serve automation, machine control and production systems. WiCell equipment offers very high transmit power of 1000 to 2000 mW — among the highest in the world. Paired with high-gain antennas such as grid or dish types, it gives point-to-point wireless links between two sites up to 20 km apart. 05

Very fast data transfer, resistant to attenuation and interference

The newest Wi-Fi standard, IEEE 802.11ac/n, delivers 866 to 1200 Mbps of bandwidth for very fast data transfer — and beyond data, the same link can carry surveillance camera video, VoIP calls and more.

02

Point-to-point technology brings a wireless link to every stand

Running cable to each stand to provide Wi-Fi in a trade fair or exhibition centre looks poor and is not really practical. WICELL's point-to-point wireless technology uses the 5.8 GHz band for long reach, creating a virtual link from the access point in each stand back to the central unit, while using 2.4 GHz to broadcast locally within each area. That assures the highest speed (less interference) and a tidy appearance (no cabling) while still serving each stand's internet needs well.

04

Point-to-point links

It is used as a backbone in place of fibre where terrain or sheer distance makes cabling difficult or impossible. Point-to-multipoint links serve shorter distances, such as carrying data from several processing stations back to a nearby centre. Installation takes far less time and effort than cabling, so deployment is quick — a matter of days — while still achieving maximum effect.

06

TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology

It strengthens the system's ability to carry data steadily, because traffic is separated into streams that do not overlap, minimising attenuation and packet loss. The equipment works in the 4.9 – 5.8 GHz band, giving excellent interference rejection on the transport link.
