Intelligent RF Load Distribution
The system balances connections within a designated AP group. It automatically distributes the number of sessions across APs to avoid local congestion.
Overview
RF Balance — load balancing
The need to connect thousands to tens of thousands of users at festivals, events, conferences, stadiums, stations… and Smart City projects is increasingly urgent. Wi-Fi is preferred because of its large bandwidth.
Despite advances in antennas and processing boards, the main bottleneck is still the AP CPU. Each AP typically handles only about 150–250 users well across both bands. Intelligent load-distribution technology is required.
Technology solution
WiCell developed Intelligent RF Load Distribution, combining a new-generation CPU that handles large traffic with automatic load-balancing technology that distributes sessions across APs.
Example: Without RF Balance — AP1 has 1 user, AP2 has 5 users. With RF Balance — the system splits 6 users into 3–3 on each AP.

Note: This is completely different from a hard user limit on one AP. A hard limit can leave one AP full at 40 users (slow) while another has only 10.
Benefits
Avoid local congestion
Load is balanced so each AP handles a reasonable number of users.
Ideal for large events
Supports thousands of connections at festivals, stadiums and convention centres.
Automatic
No manual hard-limit configuration needed.
